Together, as members of one or more musical groups at Hope Church, we form a team of worship leaders. In a very real sense, we are all "ministers of music" with the awesome responsibility of ushering other people into an encounter with God as we worship Him together. In order to do this to the best of our ability, let’s remember and practice these guidelines:
Let’s be passionate about our music ministry at Hope, trusting that our songs will bless the heart of God and inspire the hearts of His people who worship with us.
- Our audience is not the congregation, but together with the congregation, our joint audience of ONE is GOD Himself. We’re playing/singing for Him. Therefore, anything less than our best effort is not good enough. Striving for excellence in our musical offerings, must be our goal.
We’re not out to impress, but to inspire.
Our music should not be performance driven, but full of worshipful expressions. Worship holds eternal significance, because it is the one thing we do on earth that we’ll continue to do in heaven. Even concerts can be designed to encourage spiritual intimacy and wonderful encounters with God.
We’re not competitors; we’re team members with differing abilities and talents. Therefore, let’s be appreciative and considerate of everyone in our group, assisting where possible and not hesitant to ask for help when necessary.
We’re all busy people, therefore let’s show that we value each other’s time by being punctual and focused at rehearsals. This doesn’t mean we can’t have fun along the way, but let’s remain disciplined as we practice.
Show consideration by arriving early for rehearsals; bell choir members and praise team members can help set up equipment so that rehearsals can begin on time.
If you can’t attend a rehearsal, let your group leader know in advance. Bell ringers should attempt to get a substitute, then let Carl know who that person is.
We all have to make choices. It’s not possible to do everything we would like to do. Therefore, if you know that you have to be absent from group rehearsals for an extended period of time due to seasonal or other activities, it would be better to withdraw from that group until you can attend rehearsals regularly again.
