dea•con (de’k n) n. A person appointed or elected to serve as an assistant in a church.
– The American Heritage Dictionary, 2nd College Edition.

A “deacon” is, by definition, most appropriately regarded as a servant to the Body of Christ.

The deacons of Hope Presbyterian Church attempt to fulfill that privilege through a variety of ways and means. One of the most important ways is by meeting the needs of our members, regular attenders and even the “strangers in our midst.” The deacons provide ongoing congregational care to members of the congregation, both in good times and in times of illness or family crisis. The deacons also provide an outreach ministry to the community, in terms of food and clothing collections for needy families and community organizations. The deacons also coordinate programs to make visitors feel at home at Hope Church, as well as organizing events during the year to promote fellowship within the congregation. In these and other activities the Board of Deacons serves the Body of Christ with praise and thanksgiving.

The Deacons meet at 7:00 pm on the second Tuesday of each month (Sept. - June).
