Rev. Andrew Tibert

Pastor

Born October 24, 1977, in Glendale, California, to Bill and Nancy Tibert, Andrew is the oldest of four boys. In 1993 his father, a Presbyterian pastor, decided to leave Glendale Presbyterian Church and recieve a call to pastor Covenant Presbyterian Church in Colorado Springs. Bill and Nancy continue to reside there until this day (however all the boys have now flown the coop, with most returning to sunny California).

Following high school, Andrew spent a year back in California working as a youth intern at a church (mainly working with Jr. High students). This was a significant year for him - a reawakening so to speak. Not only did Andrew fall in love with the Lord all over again, but he realized that he really loved doing ministry. The next year Andrew went north to Spokane, Washington, to attend school at Whitworth College. What followed were four years of exciting and formative times, where he felt his mind was engaged and cultivated, and he began to identify gifts and leadership abilities within himself. Andrew worked for a couple of summers as a high school camp director (Soundview Camp, PCUSA), spent a year as an Resident Assistant in a dorm, was involved in starting a college ministry at his church (Knox Presbyterian Church), and ended up doing another year internship at this church. It was really during this time that his sense of call to be a pastor emerged and solidified.

After college Andrew took a break from school and went back to Colorado Springs, where for two years he drove a truck delivering office supplies and volunteered at Covenant Presbyterian Church (the first year in the young adults/married ministry, and the second year leading the teaching ministry for the high school program). He has spent the last three years at Princeton Seminary, getting his MDiv, working part time at Praise Presbyterian Church (a 2nd generation Korean-American church) as pastor of leadership development and discipleship, and completing the ordination process. It was also during this time that he met his wife, who were just recently married in May (2006).

It is with great joy and anticipation that Andrew has accepted his first call as pastor of Hope Presbyterian Church, and he looks forward to faithfully serving Christ’s church in the years to come.
